Description

Display and Design
The Z80 Ultra features a 6.85-inch BOE X10 AMOLED display with 1,216 × 2,688 pixel resolution and a high 144Hz refresh rate. The brightness also reaches quite high at 2,000 nits. Meanwhile, the screen supports 10-bit color depth, covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, and uses 2592Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker.

The display includes what Nubia calls the “AI Twilight Eye Protection”. It is a new feature that automatically adjusts color temperature based on sunrise and sunset times. Another thing about the device is that the screen has no notch or punch hole, because Nubia has provided an under-display front camera.

On the design side, this gaming phone features physical game buttons that sit on the side and support full-dimensional action mapping for gaming. The phone comes in three standard colors — Phantom Black, Condensed Light White, and a Starry Night Collector’s Edition inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s classic art. There’s also a Luo Tianyi Limited Edition in China Red with character-themed back design, exclusive wallpapers, boot animations, fingerprint unlock effects, camera watermarks, and limited packaging. Meanwhile, the device carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Performance and Software
The Z80 Ultra also runs on Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 24GB LPDDR5X RAM with 10.7Gbps transmission speed and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. Nubia has also provided the composite liquid metal cooling solution that works with an extra-large 3D Ice Steel VC heat sink (which is 35% larger than before and is the same cooling tech Nubia uses in Red Magic gaming phones).

Optics
The Z80 Ultra packs a triple camera setup on the back. The main shooter uses a 50MP OmniVision LightMaster 990 sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size and a 35mm equivalent focal length. The periscope telephoto features a 64MP sensor with a 1/2-inch size, 3x optical zoom, and OIS. It can shoot telephoto macro shots from just 15cm away.

Similarly, the ultrawide camera uses a 50MP sensor with a 1/1.55-inch size, 18mm equivalent focal length, and 120-degree field of view. Up front, you are getting a 16MP under-display camera that handles selfies and video calls.

The camera software includes AI photography filters that recommend color profiles on the fly, where you can also manually adjust color profiles. There’s also an AI Photography Master voice guidance system that gives real-time tips on action and angles while shooting.

Battery and Rest
The phone houses a 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery with “AI power-saving features.” Similarly, the phone’s charging tops out at 90W wired and 80W wireless. The phone also supports reverse charging. On the audio side, the Z80 Ultra features master-level speakers in a BOX stereo configuration with DTS:X tuning. The dual speaker setup works alongside three microphones and dual X-axis linear motors for tactile feedback.

On the usuals, the Nubia Z80 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 and works with dual SIM cards and includes GPS L1/L5 plus GLONASS for navigation.
