Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G is the same as its 5G peer for the most part. It holds the same dimensions, measuring only 7.9mm thick. It also boasts an IP54 rating, which is the first time for the Galaxy A10 series. This phone continues to have the “Key Island” that its predecessor introduced, which has since become a staple feature of the entire A series phones.

That being said, this cellular version of the phone does hold some visual distinction. Firstly, it lacks the spotlight-like patterns on the back that the 5G trim has, and the other is that it comes in a matte finish instead. It ships in a different set of colours too, which are: Grey, Green, and Midnight Blue.

Moving on to the front, the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G enjoys the same display as its compatriot. As such, it has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel stretching FHD+ in resolution. Furthermore, you get a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, 800 nits of peak brightness, and a colour depth of 16 million.

Performance and Software
This phone sticks with the trial and tested hardware of its predecessor. In other words, there is barely any upgrade on the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G from the A15 4G. It has the same MediaTek Helio G99 under the hood, which is a pretty solid choice. However, an incremental upgrade to the G100 would have been much nicer.

As for configurations, it has been announced that it will be available with 4GB memory and 128GB storage. It might get additional trims once it expands worldwide. Apart from that, this phone supports a MicroSD card of up to 1TB and will likely support virtual RAM expansion as well.

One of Samsung’s strongest suits is its software and it’s on full display on this phone too. The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G boots on OneUI based on Android 14 out of the box. It will soon be upgraded to Android 15 and will continue to receive five more yearly updates. So, in total, you are getting six years of software and security updates. On top of that, it is equipped with Samsung Knox protecting the phone from external tampering.

Camera and Battery
For imagery, the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G comes with three sensors on the back and a single shooter on the front. The rear setup includes a 50MP main camera that does most of the heavy lifting. Then there is a 5MP ultrawide lens, better suited for landscape photos. A 2MP macro completes the setup, which is there, for close-up shots. Meanwhile, on the front, you get a 13MP snapper that also doubles down as a face scanner.

In the tank, you have a 5,000 mAh battery which can apparently offer you up to 2.5 days of usage. Samsung has not clarified how it achieved this number, but that’s the claim. Lastly, it supports 25W of speedy charging through the wire.
